About Plus/Minus

The following explans how I caluculate the Plus/Minus stats
Compiled by Bill Vanselow

Plus/Minus

This is just pure start/finish positions, how many total drivers you have passed, versus drivers that passed you. If you start 5th and finish 1st, you are +4, if you start 1st and finish 5th, you are minus -4.

Weighted Plus/Minus

A pure Plus/Minus could be a misleading stat, as a driver who starts in the back has a better chance to gain more spots than a driver starting up front. I wanted to come up with a 'weighted' plus/minus, that passing drivers towards the front get rewarded more than a pass in the back. For example, a driver who starts 10th and finishes 5th mean more than a driver starting 15th and finishing 10th. For example...

• Startng 6th, finishing 1st = +8
• Starting 10th, finishing 5th = +5
• Starting 15th, finishing 10th = +3

I also wanted to make it less severe, from top to bottom, on losing spots. Sometimes a driver losses spots for reasons that are out of their control, like mechanical failures or getting caught up in someone else's wreck...

• Startng 1st, finishing 6th = -5
• Starting 5th, finishing 10th = -4
• Starting 10th, finishing 15th = -3

Below you will find a grid of all starting and finishing positions, and what the +/- are for each. Any positions over 20 are 0...
